Excited or frustrated, Denverites get used to 45 new traffic circles installed in their neighborhoods this year Chris Miller biked to work every day from his home in Denver’s Speer neighborhood for six months, passing through a new traffic circle along the way. It’s one of dozens of tight rotary intersections that Denver has installed across the city this year, forcing vehicle traffic to go around center circles. Miller, 39, said the new configuration at South Grant Street and East Bayaud Avenue “dramatically lowered my blood pressure when I’m biking.”Many Denverites agree that the circles — often replacing four-way stops on neighborhood bike routes — make them feel safer because they make it more likely drivers will follow the speed limit, or at least slow down and pay attention. The city has drastically ramped up installations of what it calls “mini” traffic circles: After converting five intersections to add circles within the existing pavement in recent years, Denver rolled out 45 new ones in 2023.But the faster pace also inspired pushb...

Broncos benching QB Russell Wilson, clouding future with franchise as Jarrett Stidham gets chance to provide offensive spark The Broncos are benching Russell Wilson, multiple sources confirmed to The Post on Wednesday morning.Jarrett Stidham is in line to start the final two games of the season for the Broncos, whose playoff odds decreased dramatically after a loss to the New England Patriots on Christmas Eve.A source told The Post that Wilson is in the building as the team prepares for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers and that he is in line to be active on game day and serve as the backup quarterback. The move gives Denver a level of protection regarding a contract trigger that would complicate their decision-making over Wilson’s future in Denver. There may also be a football element to the move.Wilson’s performance level has dipped over the past four games — three Broncos losses — but the rationale behind benching him for the season’s final two games can also easily be seen as being driven at least as much by financial ramifications as by football performance.Wilson’s cont...

Study: Social media companies made $11B in ad revenue from minors By Barbara Ortutay and Haleluya Hadera | Associated PressSocial media companies collectively made over $11 billion in U.S. advertising revenue from minors last year, according to a study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health published on Wednesday. The researchers say the findings show a need for government regulation of social media since the companies that stand to make money from children who use their platforms have failed to meaningfully self-regulate. They note such regulations, as well as greater transparency from tech companies, could help alleviate harms to youth mental health and curtail potentially harmful advertising practices that target children and adolescents. To come up with the revenue figure, the researchers estimated the number of users under 18 on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube in 2022 based on population data from the U.S. Census and survey data from Common Sense Media and Pew Research. They then used data fro...
