Cary Grant endures, decades after his death in 1986 as one of Hollywood’s most stylish and versatile stars. Yet “Archie,” a 4-part miniseries streaming on BritBox, unveils Cary Grant as the creation of Britain’s Archibald Leach to escape his horrific childhood trauma.Although initially skeptical, Jason Isaacs (“The Patriot,” “Star Trek: Discovery”) offers an insightful, physically accurate version.“When my agent said they were doing a biopic of Cary Grant, I thought, What moron would step into those shoes!? But then I got the script,” Isaacs, 60, said in a Zoom interview, “written by Jeff Pope.“Jeff Pope is known in Britain for a long history of real-life dramas, like ‘Philomena’ and ‘Stan and Ollie.’“I thought, ‘Jeff Pope’s not an idiot. There must be something else going on.’ Then I saw his scripts and realized it’s not about Cary Grant at all. It’s called ‘Archie’ because it’s about Archibald Leach who struggled all his life to play Cary Grant.“He created ‘Cary Grant’ as s...Patriots’ Bailey Zappe explains where his confidences comes from after Week 14 win

He may not win the Republican presidential nomination as polls still have him lagging behind former President Donald Trump and former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley. And his gruff, direct approach may not be attractive to those who prefer political rhetoric from candidates who promise to be all things to all people.Regardless, in the last Republican debate, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took a refreshing Knute Rockne stance compared to his competitors. He lambasted Vivek Ramaswamy who provided more in the way of insults than arguments. More importantly, Christie insisted upon a “tell the truth” position rarely exhibited by traditional politicians.Christie’s prosecutorial style with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis insisted he give a direct answer to a simple question. Is Trump fit to be president or not?DeSantis danced around the question without answering and Christie would not let him get away with it. John Kerry doesn’t get it.Joe Biden’s climate czar held court yesterday at the COP28 climate change conference in Dubai. True to form, he slammed fossil fuels. The United States must end “crazy” oil and gas subsidies to achieve its climate goals, he told Politico.Subsidies to the electric vehicle industry to produce cars few people want are just fine, apparently. But Kerry’s agenda, which matches that of other climate change social justice warriors, is all about looking good on paper and not so much about the ordinary people who must do the heavy lifting.Kerry is wealthy. He isn’t driving a beater because it’s the only thing he can afford. He isn’t a single parent of small children who must be fed. Higher gas prices will inevitably affect shipping and freight costs – and those get passed on to the struggling consumers who are able to buy less and less.He doesn’t have a job dependent on tourism, which would take a hit if people cut back o...Latest news
