Pac-12 power ratings: Arizona rises as the top tier forms and tiebreaker scenarios gather at the gates

With three weeks left, six teams are in the race for a berth in the Pac-12 championship game.Washington stands alone with an undefeated record in league play (6-0), followed closely by Oregon (5-1). Four teams have 4-2 marks: Utah, Oregon State, USC and Arizona. If the Huskies win at least two of their final three, they clinch a berth in Las Vegas. And if the Ducks keep winning, they qualify, as well. But the conference is one or two unexpected results away from tiebreaker mayhem. Only four of the six teams play each of the others, and the two schedule misses, USC-Oregon State and Arizona-Oregon, could further complicate matters.Which makes this a fine time to remind fans of the tiebreaker process itself.Two-team tieHead-to-head trumps all. If the tied teams did not play each other, the following process is applied, according to the conference:— Win percentage against the next highest placed common opponent in the standings (based on record in all games played within the confere...Recipe: Whole roasted turkey with giblet gravy, from Butterball

What’s more classic than a whole, roasted turkey for the holidays? The company perhaps most closely associated with these big birds provides many how-tos and recipes on its Butterball.com website – including pickle-brined, maple-mustard glazed, smoked and even java coffee-rubbed. But it’s hard to go wrong with the classic Holiday Turkey with Giblet Gravy, which combines crispy skin with juicy meat and a rich gravy made with aromatics like parsley and onion.Make sure you have ample time to thaw a turkey, if using frozen — but don’t do it on the counter; do it instead in the fridge or in cold water. Then it takes at least three-and-a-half hours in the oven. Must-have items include a roasting pan, a meat thermometer, a sharp knife to carve the bird after resting and of course enough people to eat it all – Butterball recommends 1½ to 2 pounds per person.Holiday Turkey with Giblet GravyServes 14INGREDIENTS1 fresh or frozen whole turkey, thawed if frozen (Butterbal...Recipe: Make Thanksgiving dinner rolls the King Arthur Baking Co. way

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — The father of a man charged in a deadly Fourth of July parade shooting in suburban Chicago pleaded guilty to seven misdemeanors Monday in a case that centered on how his son obtained a gun license.Robert Crimo Jr. entered the plea in court in Waukegan Monday morning. He had been charged with seven counts of reckless conduct — one for each person his son, Robert Crimo III, is accused of killing in Highland Park on Independence Day last year. In 2019, at the age of 19, Crimo III was too young to apply for his own gun license, but he could apply with the sponsorship of a parent or guardian. His father sponsored his application, even though just months earlier a relative reported to police that Crimo III had a collection of knives and had threatened to “kill everyone.”Crimo Jr. was arrested in December 2022, and pleaded not guilty this year to seven counts of reckless conduct. He waived his right to a jury trial, meaning Judge George Strickland will hear evidence a...Stock market today: Wall Street drifts and holds steadier after last week’s big swings

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are drifting Monday as Wall Street’s wild recent moves calm a bit.The S&P 500 was 0.2% higher in its first trading after careening from months of sharp losses to its best week of the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 41 points, or 0.1%, as of 11 a.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 0.3% higher. More stocks were falling on Wall Street than rising. The flashpoint for the stock market’s movements in both directions has been what the bond market is doing, and it was regressing Monday following its own extreme moves. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 4.61%. That’s up from 4.57% late Friday, but it’s still below the perch above 5% that it reached last month, its highest level since 2007. High yields hurt prices for stocks and other investments, while slowing the economy and raising the pressure on the financial system. This upcoming week looks to have fewer big events on the calendar that could shake markets.
